High Carbon Steel turning tool is a kind of carbon steel with carbon content between 0.8% and 1.5% . After quenching and hardening, the friction in cutting is easily tempered and softened, and is replaced by other cutting tools such as high speed steel. Generally only suitable for soft metal material cutting, commonly used SK1, SK2, SK2, SK7 and so on.
2 High Speed Steel:
High speed steel is a kind of steel-base alloy tool, which is made by adding W, CR, V and Co into carbon steel containing 0.7 ~ 0.85% carbon. For example, high-speed steel 18-4-4 contains 18% tungsten, 4% chromium and 4% vanadium. High-speed steel turning tools such as SKH2, SKH4A, SKH5, SKH6, SKH9 and so on can produce friction heat up to 6000C, which is suitable for turning thread with speed less than 1000rpm.
3 NON CAST IRON ALLOY TOOLS:
This alloy, which is made of cobalt, chromium and tungsten, is difficult to cut and is produced by casting. It is also called superhard cast alloy. The most representative is stellite, which has excellent toughness and wear resistance. Its hardness is not affected at 8200 °C, the heat resistance is much higher than that of high speed steel. It is suitable for high speed and deep cutting work.
4 sintered carbide tools:
The carbide cutting tool is made of 50% ~ 90% tungsten, with the addition of titanium, Molybdenum and tantalum as binder, and then sintered by heating. The carbide tool is three times harder than any other material, and is suitable for cutting harder metals or stones. Because of its brittle nature, it can only be made into sheets and then welded to a more ductile handle, when the blade is passivated or cracked, another blade can be replaced or a new blade can be used. This kind of turning tool is called a discarding turning tool. According to the different cutting properties of the carbide cutting tools according to the international standard (ISO) , the carbide cutting tools are divided into three categories: P, m, K, which are marked by blue, yellow and red respectively: P is suitable for cutting steel, there are six categories: P01, P10, P20, P30, P40 and P50, p01 is a high-speed precision turning tool, small number, high wear resistance, P50 is a low-speed rough turning tool, large number, high toughness, Hilt blue to identify. Class K is suitable for cutting brittle and hard materials such as stone and cast iron. There are five classes: K01, K10, K20, K30 and K40. K01 is a high-speed precision turning tool and K40 is a low-speed rough turning tool. M Between Class P and Class M, suitable for cutting ductile materials such as not? And so on, this kind of Hilt is painted with yellow to identify it.
5 CERAMIC TURNING TOOLS:
Ceramic turning tools are made of alumina powder with a small amount of elements added and then sintered at high temperature. Their hardness, heat resistance and cutting speed are higher than those of Tungsten Carbide, but because of their Brittleness, they are not suitable for discontinuous or heavy turning.
6 Diamond Cutters
For advanced surface finishing, round or edge-edged industrial diamonds can be used for light work. A smoother surface can be obtained, which is mainly used for precision turning of copper alloy or light alloy. High speed must be used in turning, with a minimum of 60 ~ 100m/min and usually 200 ~ 300m/min.
7 Boron Oxide Cubic Boron Oxide (CBN)
This tool is suitable for machining hard and wear resistant iron group alloy, nickel base alloy and cobalt base alloy.
