The difference between machining centers, engraving and milling machines, and engraving machines

What is the difference between machining centers, engraving and milling machines, and engraving machines?, I believe many friends who have just joined this circle will ask, but when buying mechanical equipment, they are not very clear about how to distinguish and what kind of equipment to buy in order to meet their needs. Today, the editor will dig into the distinction between the three of them.
Engraving and milling machine:
As the name suggests, it can be carved or milled. On the basis of the carving machine, the power of the spindle and servo motor is increased, and the bed can withstand the force while maintaining the high-speed of the spindle. Engraving and milling machines are also developing rapidly, commonly known as high-speed machines, with stronger cutting ability and very high processing accuracy. They can also directly process materials with a hardness of HRC60 or above, forming in one go. They are widely used in precision mold core rough and precision processing, batch processing of mold copper electrodes, aluminum products, shoe mold manufacturing, fixture processing, and the watch and watch industry. Due to its high cost-effectiveness, fast processing speed, and good smoothness of processed products, it is becoming increasingly important in the machine tool processing industry
CNC machining center:
The Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Guangdong regions are also known as computer gongs. The characteristic of machining parts on machining centers is that after the processed parts are clamped once, the CNC system can control the machine tool to automatically select and replace cutting tools according to different processes; Automatically change the spindle speed, feed rate, and the relative motion trajectory of the tool to the workpiece, as well as other auxiliary functions, to continuously perform multi process machining on various machining surfaces of the workpiece, such as drilling, countersinking, reaming, boring, threading, milling, etc. Due to the centralized and automatic completion of multiple processes by the machining center, human operational errors are avoided, and the time for workpiece clamping, measurement, and machine tool adjustment, as well as workpiece turnover, handling, and storage, are reduced. This greatly improves machining efficiency and accuracy, resulting in good economic benefits. Machining centers can be divided into vertical machining centers and horizontal machining centers based on the position of the spindle in space.
Engraving machine:
The torque is relatively small and the spindle speed is high, which is suitable for processing small tools. It focuses on the "carving" function and is not suitable for strong cutting of large workpieces. At present, most of the products on the market under the banner of carving machines are mainly for processing handicrafts, with low cost. Due to low accuracy, they are not suitable for mold development; Engraving and milling machines, machining centers. In terms of engraving machine indicator data, the maximum spindle speed (r/min) is compared to the machining center of 8000; The most common carving and milling machine costs 240000 yuan, while the lowest for high-speed machines is 30000 yuan; Engraving machines are generally the same as engraving and milling machines. Engraving machines used for high gloss processing can reach 80000, but they do not use ordinary electric spindles but air floating spindles.
Spindle power: The machining center has the maximum power, ranging from several thousand watts to tens of kilowatts; Engraving and milling machines come second, generally within ten kilowatts; The engraving machine is the smallest.
Cutting amount: The machining center has the maximum cutting capacity, especially suitable for heavy cutting and rough cutting; Engraving and milling machines come second, suitable for precision machining; The engraving machine is the smallest.
Speed: Due to the lightweight nature of both engraving and milling machines, their movement and feed rates are faster than those of machining centers, especially for high-speed machines equipped with linear motors, which can reach a maximum movement speed of 120m/min
Accuracy: The accuracy of the three is similar.
In terms of machining dimensions:
The workbench area can better reflect this. The minimum workbench area (in mm) for domestic machining centers (computer gongs) is 830 * 500 (850 machines); The maximum workbench area of the carving and milling machine is 700 * 620 (750 machines), and the minimum is 450 * 450 (400 machines); Engraving machines generally do not exceed 450 * 450, with the common being 45 * 270 (250 machines).
From the perspective of application objects:
A machining center is a processing equipment used to complete workpieces with large milling volumes, large molds, materials with relatively high hardness, and also suitable for rough cutting of ordinary molds; Engraving and milling machines are used to complete precision machining of small milling quantities and small molds, suitable for processing copper, graphite, etc; Low end engraving machines tend to process low hardness boards such as wood, dual color boards, and acrylic boards, while high-end ones are suitable for polishing and polishing chips, metal shells, and other materials.
There is no such term as CNC engraving milling machine in foreign countries. Strictly speaking, engraving is a part of milling, so foreign countries only have the concept of machining centers, and this has led to the concept of small machining centers to replace engraving and milling machines. Whether to purchase a carving machine or a CNC milling machining center is a common question to ask oneself, depending on actual production needs. In addition, there is currently a popular high-speed cutting machine tool (HSCMACHINE), which is called a high-speed machine in China.
Let's first clarify the differences between the three models
CNC milling and machining centers are processing equipment used to complete workpieces with large milling volumes
CNC engraving and milling machines are used to complete small milling quantities or soft metal processing equipment
High speed cutting machine tools are processing equipment used to complete moderate milling volumes and minimize the amount of polishing after milling
An in-depth analysis of the structure and data processing types of the aforementioned equipment can help us make the right choices. The article has already explained in detail the differences between engraving and milling machines, machining centers, and engraving machines. I believe everyone should have a certain understanding of these three in their hearts
