The lathe tailstock automatically feeds into the boring shaft hole. In the shaft parts, there are a large number of shafts to be processed.

The most common machining method of shaft hole is to install a clamping bit on the end seat of lathe.


Hand drilling, and then install a boring tool on the tool holder for car boring.

This method is very convenient for the processing of shallow oil hole, and the machining precision can be guaranteed.

But for the deeper shafts, it's hard to work them out.

On the one hand, when drilling the tail seat, the sleeve stroke of the tail seat is very short. When the hand feed reaches the limit of the sleeve stroke, it must be shaken back again.

So repeated, the labor intensity is great, the efficiency is very low.

On the other hand, when after the drill to be processed, due to restrictions on the size of tool rest, boring cutter tool rod is very fine, if the hole is deeper, the stiffness of the boring cutter is very poor, the machining accuracy is very poor, even can't processing.


Deep hole on the lathe processing, usually for tool rod stiffness shortage problem solution is, a special tool rod, loading the tailstock hole, hand the tailstock is boring, its processing and drilling, need to be repeated.

So, the intensity of labor is very big, and more importantly, because of the need to repeatedly intermittent feeding, and hand feed speed and may not very uniform, the machining accuracy and surface roughness is bad, can not meet the high quality requirements.

Therefore, for the general small factory, the best way to process the shaft type deep hole is to modify the lathe slightly so that the tailstock can be fed automatically.


To make the lathe tailstock can automatically feed, can design a variety of improvements, one of the most simple way is to the tailstock and big drag board mounted between the plate rigid connection, so, when big drag board for longitudinal feed, tailstock, then realized the tailstock motor feed.


The following problems should be paid attention to by using this method: at ordinary times, when the lock handle of the tail seat is in a relaxed position, there is a gap between the lock press block under the tail seat and the guide rail of the lathe.

When the handle is in the lock position, the pressure block is pressed on the guide rail, the friction is very high.

Therefore, it is necessary to adjust the adjusting nut on the pressure block so that when the lock handle of the tail seat is in the lock position, there is no gap between the pressure block and the guide rail, and there is no locking force.


By using this method, the deep hole of lathe can be machined automatically, which not only improves the quality and productivity of machining, but also greatly reduces the labor intensity of workers.

Moreover, the machine itself has made almost no changes, no cost improvement, no damage to the original parts of the lathe.

If you want the machine tool to restore the original turning function, you only need to remove the connecting plate, and then adjust the adjusting nut of the pressure block under the tail seat back to the original position, which is very convenient.
